When my oldest turned 4 years old, I ordered our homeschool material from Abeka. I taught him that year using the material provided. He even learned cursive at 4 years old. We continued on with using Abeka for the next five years. We still do use some Abeka in our school, but I have begun to branch out and use other curriculum.
In 2013, I had the opportunity to begin writing reviews for the Schoolhouse Review Crew, a division of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. It was this year that I was able to learn about other curriculum that was available. I was able to use the product and research the company.
You can find my 2013 and 2014 reviews here.
I am now in my tenth year of homeschooling my children and we use different curriculum for different subjects. My boys use Abeka for math, spelling, and history. They use Apologia for science and IEW Fix It for grammar. My oldest son also uses Visual Latin. My daughter uses CTCMath, Abeka reading and history, A Reason for Handwriting, Fix it grammar, home spelling words, and Apologia.
