North Carolina Field Trips

I have compiled this list from ideas posted on the N.C. Homeschool Facebook page and from my own research. I already have a couple of posts about North Carolina field trips, but wanted to compile a list. You can check out my Free or Almost Free post and my Raleigh field trip post. This is just a start and I will keep adding to this post.

Mountains:

~ Looking Glass Falls (Pisgah National Forest)

~ Gem Mining: Doc's Rocks or Foggy Mountain

~ Biltmore Estate: They have homeschool days in September.

~ Ghost Town in the Sky

~ Linville Caverns

~ Catawba Science Center

Piedmont:

~ Latta Plantation: They have a homeschool day in September

~ Homeland Creamery

~ Morehead Planetarium

~ Carolina Tiger Rescue

~ Duke Lemur Center

~ Fascinate-U Children's Museum

~ North Carolina Transportation Museum: They have a homeschool day in May.

~ North Carolina Zoo: You have to call ahead 15 days before hand. You and your children (K-12) are allowed free admission. Any additional adults and children have to pay regular admission. They even offer a discounted rate to out of state homeschoolers. 

~ Carolinas Aviation Museum

~ Marbles Kids Museum: Discounted rate for homeschool families. One adult is admitted free.

~ Old Salem: They have homeschool days in September.

~ Reed Gold Mine

~ Airborne & Special Operations Museum

Coast:

~ Wright Brothers Memorial

~ Simply Natural Creamery

~ Sea Turtle Hospital

~ North Carolina Aquariums: Pine Knoll Shores has a homeschool day in September. Homeschoolers are also allowed one free day at any of the aquariums.

~ USS North Carolina: Children are charged a discounted rate. Adults are admitted at a discounted rate.

~ Tryon Palace

~ North Carolina Estuarium
