Abigail: The Belle of Bravery Book Review and Giveaway

You may remember my post from June about Esther: The Belle of Patience. If you have not read, I encourage you to do so.

Erin Weidemann has done it again! The third book in the Bible Belles series is about Abigail: The Belle of Bravery.

About the series:
The Bible Belles is a five book series based on women of the Bible. Erin is using the acronym H.E.A.R.D. for the series. H is a book on Hannah, E is a book on Esther, and A is a book on Abigail, R will be on Ruth, and D will be on Deborah. The series acronym is based on Exodus 28:35 ~ The sound of the bell(e)s will be heard.

Rooney:
When I wrote my last review, I didn't realize that the character in the book was named after Erin's own daughter. (You can read about how the Bible Belles got it's start here) Rooney, with the help of her guardian angel Mari, is able to learn from the women in the Bible and earn that woman's superpower. The different superpowers are prayer, patience, bravery, loyalty, and leadership.

Abigail:
The story starts out with Rooney, her friend Dani, and her brother Sam playing outside. Sam is having a difficult day and is being mean to some new neighbors. Rooney is praying to figure out what she can do to help her brother. Mari, the guardian angel, shows up and takes Rooney to see how Abigail would handle the situation. Rooney sees that Abigail lives with her husband who is not a nice person and is not willing to help David. One of Abigail's servants goes to Abigail to see if she can help. Will she help David? Will she be able to feed him and his men? Is she really a brave woman? Did Rooney earn the bravery superpower? Get the book and find out!

What my girls thought:
My girls are eleven and five and they both enjoy these Bible books that are geared just for girls. My older daughter is able to read the books to her younger sister and it gives them a bond. We also love how each story is illustrated perfectly. My youngest daughter loves Supergirl, but I'd rather her have Abigail and other women of the Bible as her superheroes. I also love that there is a devotional that goes along with the Abigail book. And don't forget the coloring pages.

Esther: The Belle Of Patience ~ Review and Giveaway

Esther: The Belle of Patience #BibleBelles
I am always looking for great books that teach my children great values. The Adventures of Rooney Cruz are Bible story books that are based on different women of the Bible. The series will highlight five superhero women: Hannah, Esther, Abigail, Ruth, and Deborah. So, why did they choose these five women? It's based on Exodus 28:35 ~ The sound of the bell(e)s will be heard (H.E.A.R.D.~ The acronym is the first letter of each women's names).

Who is Rooney?
Rooney Cruz is the main character of each book who experiences the Bible with the help of her guardian angel, Mari. On her journeys, Rooney learns about one special superpower that each of  the women had, which allows her to also earn that superpower.

Who is the author?
Erin Weidemann is a wife, mother, author, teacher, former college athlete, and five time cancer survivor. She loves spending time with her family and is the CEO and founder of Bible Belles.

About Esther: The Belle of Patience ~
Esther is book two in the Bible Belles series. In this story, Rooney gets upset when a soccer teammate hogs the ball and doesn't give anyone else a chance to play the game. She wants to have a talk with the coach, but doesn't know how. With the help of her angel Mari, Rooney discovers a way to talk with her coach. Mari takes her back in time to when Esther also needed to use discernment to talk with someone. Through her time watching Esther, Rooney learns that it takes patience when trying to find the right time and place to talk with someone.

What we thought of Esther ~
I have two daughters. A ten year old and a five year old. They both enjoyed hearing about Rooney and Esther. The book is not very long and can easily be read in one sitting. My girls also loved the colorful illustrations throughout the book. This was a great story that shows girls that there were some great women in the Bible that were used by God. We give this book 5 stars!

Also, the website is full of great information. I found this great page of freebies (coloring pages, memory verse cards, prayer college, and prayer belles).
