Vacation 2013

Back in December of 2012, my nephew asked his then girlfriend to marry him. Of course she said yes! The plan was for them to get married in Oklahoma in July 2013. They also asked us if our 2 year old could be one of the flower girls.

We began our trip on Tuesday, July 16. It was an 18+ hour trip from North Carolina. We were also traveling with my brother and sister in law and their children.

Finally made it to the Mississippi River:

After traveling all night Tuesday and all day Wednesday, we finally saw this sign about 5 PM:

Since we arrived Wednesday night, we were able to take Thursday as a sight seeing day. We headed to Tulsa and visited Oral Roberts University. We also drove a little ways on Route 66.

On Friday, we helped my brother and sister in law get ready for the rehearsal dinner.
Here is my 2 yr old at rehearsal:

Saturday, July 20th, was the big day! We arrived at the church and everyone was getting ready and taking pictures.

We went to church the next morning and left Oklahoma at about 6 PM. We knew we had a long trip ahead of us. We traveled all night on Sunday and all day on Monday. Monday, July 22, was also my youngest son's 10th birthday.

It was so great to finally be back in North Carolina!

Since we were traveling the day of my son's 10th birthday, we had candles and cake when we returned from our trip:

Vacation

Last week, we took a mini vacation for our daughter's 7th birthday.  We started out at the state fair and ended with camping.  We had such a great time and the weather was so beautiful and perfect.

We went to the state fair on Thursday and everyone enjoyed themselves.  After spending some time at the fair we went to Pullen Park and rode the train and carousel.  The kids also enjoyed playing.

We spent the evening with my husband's brother.  The next morning, we headed out to the NC Zoo.  We arrived at the zoo around lunch time, so we had our picnic lunch before going in.  We had a great time walking all over and seeing all of the animals.

After the zoo, we headed to Badin Lake and camped out for the night.  It was kind of primitive as they did not have electricity at the sites, but they did have hot showers and flush toilets near the campsites.  It was beautiful.  Our site was right on the lake.  The kids loved building a fire that night and sleeping in the tent.

The birthday girl also lost a tooth while on vacation!  Overall, we had a great vacation and can't wait to do it again!
