Looking Back At 2016

I can't believe it is time for a year in review post already. This year has definitely flown by. Let's look back at what we have done this past year.

I rejoined the Homeschool Review Crew after taking a year off.

My oldest turned 14 in February. We had been hit with an ice storm the day before his birthday, but it cleared up in time for us to go celebrate.

My youngest turned 5 in March. I can't believe how fast she is growing up.

When we finished our school work for the year in April, we took a trip to the zoo. We had so much fun.

I went into planning mode in May for our 2016-2017 school year. So far it has been going as planned. We made it to our 100thy day before Christmas break!

We also enjoyed seeing the Blue Angels perform in May.

Memorial Day weekend was spent at the beach and with family.

July was time for VBS and summer camps. My older three were gone for a week, one to camp and two on a missions trip. The following week, the two boys went to Trail Life summer camp.

During August, we took a day trip to the lake and since school had started back, we had the whole lake to ourselves. It was a lot of fun.
Cliffs of the Neuse State Park

My oldest took driver’s ed in September and I turned a year older.
My youngest lost her first tooth and quickly lost her second and has been singing “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth..” since then.

My oldest daughter turned 11 in October. We spent the day at the aquarium.

Hurricane Matthew paid a visit and we were cut off from town because of massive flooding at the river.

My mother in law passed away in November and we had our first Thanksgiving meal without her.

And now, we are at December. We have had a good month with church programs and candlelight communion. In a few short days we will get together and celebrate Jesus’ birth with family. And once again, a new year will start.

A Look Back At 2014

Another year has come and gone. This was my 2nd year on the Schoolhouse Review Crew. I enjoyed it so much, but decided to take a break and try to go back to college this coming year.

This year started out with some snow and snow cream for us in Eastern North Carolina.

My oldest turned twelve in February and my youngest turned 3 in March.

I had several reviews over the months. I participated and finished blogging through the alphabet one time. I am on my second round of blogging through the alphabet.

I also lost my computer half way through the year and had to scramble to buy a new hard drive quickly since I had many reviews due. This is not the screen you want to see when you start up your computer.

I managed to get several menu plan Monday posts written and also posted some free printables.

I celebrated my birthday in September. 2015 is the big one for me. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but it's coming.

Our favorite field trip this year was to the aquarium.

My youngest son turned 11 in July and my oldest daughter turned 9 in October.

And we finished the year with a great Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I hope you have a great 2015!

A Look Back at 2013

Wow, another year is coming to an end. This year has gone by so fast. Here are a few highlights from this past year.

It was my 1st year on the Schoolhouse Review Crew. We reviewed some great products and we are looking forward to many great reviews again in 2014.

My oldest turned 11 and my youngest turned 2.

We took many wonderful field trips. We visited the aquarium, the beach, an old fort, the battleship, and some museums.

We took a trip to Oklahoma in July to see my nephew get married. Sara was one of the flower girls.

Met Nicholas Sparks for the first time.

Went to the fair. And had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Is this year really over?

Wow, I cannot believe how fast this year has flown by.  It seems like it just started.  I always think in January and February the year is going by so slowly, but then all of a sudden December is here!  We had a fun filled year this year.
In January, we went to the North Carolina Outer Banks.   We visited the aquarium and the Wright Brothers Memorial.  It was a little chilly and my oldest got car sick, but we had a fun day.

We also visited our state’s capitol in January.

February, my oldest son turned 10 years old the day after Valentine’s Day!

It started getting warmer outside in March and we celebrated my youngest daughter’s first birthday!  The daffodils bloom in March and are so pretty,

In April we visited the park and the boys dug for some fossils.  In May and June, we went strawberry and blueberry picking.

The rest of the summer months were filled with a trip to the beach, celebrating my youngest son’s 9th birthday, a trip to the Marble’s Museum in Raleigh, and a trip to Fort Macon to start off the school year.

The fall months came and we were able to go on a camping trip and to the NC Zoo for my oldest daughter’s 7th birthday.

In November, we celebrated Veteran’s Day by going to a parade in our town.

And now, this year is over and we will start new adventures in 2013.  The kids will all turn one year older.  We will visit many different places.  We will make new memories.  Happy New Year!

Take a look at how other crew members remembered 2012!
